Workshops in the 2012-2013 Workshop Series, hosted by the Center for Community Engagement, cover a range of topics including wellness, sustainability, social justice, classroom and curriculum issues, writing, and more. Click here for more information and to see the fall 2012 and spring 2013 offerings.

These workshops are offered at times convenient to practicing professionals (they start at 5 p.m.) and do not involve the same responsibilities as more typical graduate school coursework. PDUs or CEUs are available for all workshops. There is also an option to purchase continuing education credit upon completion of selected workshops. Click here to view current credit option series offerings. Within the 2012-2013 Workshop Series, selected workshops can be taken in sequence with the option to purchase 1 semester hour of continuing education credit after completing all 5 in that particular series. Registration for credit will occur at the last workshop in this series.

The cost of these workshops is only $30 each!

Find/Make/Share: Using Your iPad to Teach Part 1 & Part 2
Friday, Oct. 12, 2012
2828 SW Corbett Ave. STE 140 B
Portland, OR 97201

$299 for both sessions or $199 for one.

Follow the link below to register.

The class is broken up into two parts. The first part is a good iPad starter course for teachers, and the second goes deeper into instructional and presentation tools. These can be taken separately or together. Taking them together makes them eligible for credit from Willamette University. While the combined class is only 6 hours of instruction (with an additional hour for lunch) it will actually provide 15 PDUs, because Willamette University is awarding 0.5 CEUs for each teacher. **Teachers must take parts I and II together to get the 0.5 CEU.

If you are planning a class project, and need an “expert” volunteer – I’d like to invite you to post your project on the new Virtual Volunteer area at Digital Wish. Digital Wish connects classroom teachers with “expert” volunteers by video conference. This is another great free service we provide our members! Just login and post your project here: www.digitalwish.com/dw/digitalwish/volunteers

  • Teachers will post a class project that needs a volunteer expert, by video conference.
  • Executive Volunteers will post a profile that outlines their unique expertise.
  • A robust search engine matches them together.
  • We’ll keep you updated with profiles of newly posted expert volunteers.

Over the next month, we’ll be inviting the employees of large corporations, entrepreneur networks, and many scientific associations to have their members volunteer to help you with your projects. So please post your projects and our staff will be out there recruiting volunteers!
